1. If you don’t make plans, plans will be made for you.

  3. Opt-in vs. Opt-out Schedule. There are some things in life that should be default opt-out decisions - cleaning your house, doing the laundry, Sunday family dinners, regular pick-up basketball etc. Your life will be defined by good decisions you need to opt-out of vs. having to opt-in every time. That's a lot of mental energy to spend opting into everything.

  4. Learning to love basic chores and errands. Get yourself on a schedule of grocery shopping, vacuuming, cleaning dishes, laundry, etc. Life has a rhythm and if you're not building in these life habits into your rhythm, you'll pay for it later.

  5. If you see a book you like, just buy it.

  6. Always ask - who is this for? Sometimes the decision is for you, sometimes it's for someone else. Keep a healthy perspective on who it is for.

  7. Find partners who make the sum greater than the parts.

  8. You don’t improve what you don’t measure.

  9. Ambition comes off as lunacy or genius and rarely much in between. Prepare to be misunderstood.

  10. The most expensive tool in your shed is the cheapest tool.

  11. There’s a time when you’re across the table with someone and a time you’re on the same side.
